I acquired a proven pair of Timneh African Greys on Sept. 1st, 2008. They are named ZIGGY and PACO and had produced two kids in 2005, and nothing since. They went through a 30 day quarantine here, and very shortly after joining the birdroom crew they went to nest. Ziggy laid four eggs and hatched out 3 babies on November 24th, 26th, and 29th.
I pulled the kids to handfeed on 12/7/08. For tons of pictures of that experience, please visit the Timneh Babies pages, which begin HERE.

To my surprise, Ziggy and Paco went to nest again, laying in January. At this writing, Jan. 21, 2009, they have 4 eggs and 3 look to be fertile so far. The first three babies are just over 7 weeks old now, so hopefully they will be weaned before I have more to feed! Then again, I don't like counting my chickens before they hatch, so I will not take for granted that there will be any babies from this second clutch. I will update as things progress.
Three eggs from the second clutch hatched, but the third hatched five days after the second and that baby was so much smaller he survived only a few days. Perhaps had I pulled him or pulled the two larger kids... however, hindsight is 20/20, and I try to keep from interfering too much. So there were two lovely babies from the second clutch, and their pages begin HERE. After removing the chicks for handfeeding, the nestbox was blocked off with sheet metal and the timnehs will not be given access again till fall. A wonderful first season here for Ziggy and Paco! They gave me three boys in the first clutch and two girls in the second. I learned a LOT during the process of raising these kids, and hopefully their "diaries" will help others learn, too.
